What does it take to make a photograph? I shoot with small, medium and large format cameras. Which camera I use depends on numerous factors, many of which are completely subjective. I like the resolution and the grain free smoothness of large format. But I tend not to enlarge my images greatly. I can get fairly high-resolution images from small format cameras. My favorite films are slow speed black and white films with fine grain and high resolving power. However, life does not happen at show speeds so I often use moderately high speed films that allow me to hand hold a small or medium format camera and still keep control of the motion. I do all my own film processing. My images are traditional silver gelatin prints made by me in a traditional chemical darkroom I will shoot in any light but the light I prefer is the soft light of an overcast day or the light coming through a north facing window |
